As the economy developing, the load of power increases year by year. Voltage sags and fluctuations occur. Some sensitive Facilities can not endure Voltage distortions. Accordingly, data stored in computer lost and manufactures devastate. In order to solve the problem, a lot of electric power device develop. The dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is one of these devices to improve the quality of power supply. Compare with other these devices, DVR have higher performance ratio and is considered to be the most potential device.This paper show a typical frame of DVR at first, then explain its work process. It is composed of rectifier, Capacitor Energy Storage, inverter and filter.Detect of voltage distortions is important to a DVR. Whether a DVR compensate voltage sags quickly and exactly depend on detect method mostly. Some detect methods were explained and their advantages were compared.A three-phase DVR and a single-phase DVR were modeling with MATLAB. The three-phase DVR uses feedback control method. The single-phase uses forward control method. For voltage sags or voltage rises, the paper does some simulations. Then simulation results are analyzed.The components of DVR are designed, including the main circuit and its controller. The controller use SPWM. SPWM is the most universal method. This paper describes how a standard sine wave produced. The sine wave follows the voltage supplied.
