Static var generator (SVG) is an important Flexible AC Transmission System controller. It is a kind of device, which is based on power convertor and can compensate reactive power of electronic system, and is the important component of Flexible AC Transmission System in electronic industry and has emerged in recent yeas. It applies electric and electronic technology, technology of the computer and modern control technology to the power system. Through the control of outputting voltage amplitude and phase of the device, it can implement flexible and fast control to the network parameter and network structure of the power system, can regulate continuously the reactive power in the whole range from capacitive reactive power to inductive reactive power, reach to compensate rapidly the demand for the reactive power of the system, thus can suppress the voltage fluctuating and strengthen systematic stability.This thesis compares the advantages and disadvantages of various Var compensation devices, introduces the development and current situation of SVG, analyzes its working principle and control method, with the PWM convertor for the foundation designed to the simulation and experiment of reactive power's occurrence equip. With the PWM convertor for the foundation designed to reactive power's occurrence equip is a new generation reactive power's compensate equip, the technique of pass the PWM technology regulates the bridge network side electric current's amplitude and phase to compensate the reactive power. Because the PWM convertor could be running in four quadrants ,so the SVG can carry out have no harmonic wave continuous compensate reactive power. PWM convertor's keystone and simulation are discussed first in the thesis, and combine the beneficial resources of our laboratory as to do with this experiment,and based on TMS320LF2407 DSP, the system's hardware and software are designed, finally design the modern with the mine hoist for load, it is the reactive power and harmonious wave occurrence source, design LC to filter wave and with PWM convertor technique for the foundation's reactive power's compensate equip, validate the whole system is good.
