Cycloid steel ball planetary transmission is a new type of precise mechanism which has no backlash, construction compact, bearing capacity strong and transmission efficiency high. On the base of reading literatures, this paper has carried out the research on the clearance adjustment mechanisms to eliminate the clearance of that transmission mechanism.According to the construction constituted and the drive principles of the cycloid steel ball planetary transmission mechanism, the process of wearing and friction of engagement pairs have been analyzed. The relationship of wear between steel and cycloid groove side surface has respectively deduced from the micro—tribology aspect, that offer the theoretical foundation for the electrical control. The cycloid steel ball engagement pairs'clearances under the different states of motion have been analyzed. The numerical scale relation of the measured signal to the controlled signal has been deduced.Different types of clearance adjustment mechanisms have been analyzed and improved. Three types of clearance adjustment mechanisms have been designed: periodic spiral-type adjustment mechanisms, automatic spring-type adjustment mechanism and mechanical and electrical integration adjustment mechanism. The properties of spiral-type adjustment mechanisms have been analyzed, the two types spring of the spring-type adjustment mechanisms have been compared and its structural parameters have been designed. That has provided consummate academic basis for the application of adjustment mechanisms.According to the construction constituted and the operating principles of the mechanical and electrical integration adjustment system, the main parts of measurement and control links have been preliminary selected. Set up a scaling relation of the control signal and the planetary disk axial displacement. The mechanical and electrical integration adjustment system has been designed, in which the gear adjustment mechanism as its mechanical transmission link. Considering from the aspects of both accuracy and cost-effective have made up two sets of completely different clearance adjustment mechanisms systems program, selected and matched the transmission parts and components .The research result provided technique support for raising the transmission accuracy of cycloid steel ball planetary transmission mechanism.
