Along with the development of China Economy ,the number of vehicles increasing, growth of hardware cannot satisfy trafic problems, the emphasis on Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is increasing.ITS plays an unexampled role in the supervision of trafic management through morden way. ITS has been the best way and best developing direction to solve the trafic problems effectively. The effectiveness of the system's operation depends critically on how to obtain accurate full-scale and real-time transportation information .The author puts forward his own suggestion for sensor selection and optimization of directional distribution, the objective is to solve the real-time effectiveness and economical efficiency of multi traffic flow data collection systems. This paper lays emphasis on the research of sensor selection and optimization of directional distribution. In the beginning the author makes a thorough analysis of the basic composition and technical characteristic of various sensors, which is an essential part of this paper and provides the foundation of follow-up study.Secondly, methods of experience and the multi-level fuzzy integrated evaluation are presented for sensor selection.Based on the characteristic of relevance of traffic flow, flnally it puts forward the similarity analysis to all traffic flow and find out the correlation matrix between road Section, and upbuild mathematical model of optimization of directional distribution with constraint of this matrix, the solution of such model can lead to the scale of optimization of sensor distribution and point location. Simulation software VISSIM3.60 is used to to simulation analysis, to support this idea.
