The research on the collapsibility loess foundation is summarized in this paper. Through taking the different natural environment, highway level and vehicle load into consideration in Ningxia region, the treatment principle and method of settlement prediction about the collapsibility loess foundation in Ningxia region are put forward. Taking the Zhong-Ying expressway in Ningxia as example, the field investigation on the collapsibility loess foundation is carried out. The geological structure speciality, physical characteristics and its regularity are analyzed. The experiment of dynamic compaction method for the foundation treatment is carried out in the filed, especially for the construction methods and treatment effect. The relationship between compaction energy intensity, compaction times and effective treatment depth has been mainly studied. Long term measured data of Zhong-Ying expressway in Ningxia are analyzed by using artificial neural network, making comparison of predictive settlement with measured settlement, and furthermore, the predictive settlement after 15 years of working was given. The research conclusions can be refered by the highway engineering design and construction in Ningxia region.
