With the rapid development of our country's economic construction, especially the implementation of the western development strategy, human beings being engaged in production and construction, for example, the hydropower station construction, load building and other engineerings, often relevant to build so many rock slopes. And they have commen characteristics by:Due to the manual excavation of the slopes, which are both high and steep in the complex geological conditions and environments,so the manual slopes suffer to unloading and multi-factor joint action. The accident often occurs during construction of rock slope, resulting in serious losses of people's lives and property, and the indirect losses by delay is immeasurable.Thefore, the stability issue of rock slope is related to the safety and economic effcets during the construction and operation, its study has an important engineering practice significance and economic value. Before, the studies on the rock slope engineering were generally based on the traditional rock mechanics theory and method, the stability and deformation issue of rock slope were often solved with the application of traditional rock mechanics concepts, theories and methods. After the long geological ages, the rock slope is generally in a state of stable equilibrium,After manual excavation, the stability of rock slope is destroyed because of rock's stress re-distribution.So yield condition selection for analysis,as well as the selection method.etc, should different from the traditional methods of analysis. With the additional load such as earthquake ,the stability analysis of rock slope will be more complicate. The development of true stress and strain of rock is simulated with finite element method, the process of deformation to damage is also shown.considering with the cumulative damage effect and elastopastic of rock on the stability of rock slope. To a large extent, the finite element method can compensate for deficiencies in traditional methods.Using finite analysis software ABAQUS program, based on the strength reduction method, the excavation progress and the performance of earthquake of the high and steep rock slope of one practual hydropower project are simulated, and the stability analysis of the rock slope is made, find out that:(1) During mining progress, the stress distribution of the rock slope may change, and the stability of the fault intersecting with the slope face weakens, eventually the stability of slope damages;(2) Based on strength reduction method,Suggesting that the weighted equivalent plastic strain Qpeeq and the changing ratio of it are regarded as the reference of whether the high and steep rock slope is stable or not, with the critical factor of safety rock slope Kcr;(3) Comparing with the effect of different reinforcing programmes,it is impossible to stop the instability of fault and the deflection of the whole slope with anchor or other kinds of shallow anchoring measure, the optimizational anchoring and grouting reinforcing programme has been brung forward.(4) Under seismic load, more plastic deformation appears at the top and the bottom of slope,so the seismic strengthening of bottom is crucial.
