End face engagement cycloid steel ball planetary transmission is a new type of precise mechanism which has no backlash, construction compact, bearing capacity strong and transmission efficiency high. Research on the organization'efficiency and lubrication will help its promotion of practical application. Based on previous research, and reading extensive literature references, The efficiency and lubrication of the transmission have being studied.According to the construction constituted and the drive principles of the cycloid steel ball planetary transmission mechanism, the cycloid groove profile and mechanism ratio formula was analyzed, and then the ring groove ball transmission characteristics of the output body, which provide a theoretical basis for the efficiency and lubrication of the mechanism.By analyzing the characteristics of the ball and cycloid groove in the engagement process, taking ball state in real-time motion into account, starting from the rolling friction mechanism, calculate friction power by meshing pair within a single cycle. Then combined with output power and get the efficiency formulas of the engagement pair ball in cycloid transmission and do the example calculation, map of the parameters on the efficiency formulas. It provides a theoretical basis to improve the transmission efficiency of the engagement pair .Based on the modern theory of EHL, establish the EHL model for the engagement pair of cycloid ball. By analyzing the equivalent radius of curvature, entrainment speed, load parameters of the meshing pair in a single cycle eventually get its minimum film thickness formula. Then discriminant the lubrication state of the meshing pair by the calculation. Mapping and analysis of meshing pair minimum film thickness distribution, in order to improve the lubrication state of the engagement pair and provides a theoretical basis.The efficiency and lubrication of ring groove on the constant speed output mechanism were studied. Analysis the average force between the ball and ring groove, calculate the friction power by the meshing pair and get the efficiency formulas of the engagement pair. Establish the Hamrock-Dowson EHL model for the engagement pair of the meshing pair and get its minimum film thickness formula under isothermal conditions.
