This paper researches a new type mechanical transmission mechanism-end face engagement cycloid steel ball planetary transmission. The meshing efficiency has been studied completely and systematically. The parameters of steel ball reducer are optimized on the base of analysis about meshing. By taking advantage of computer technology the main parts of the reducer-epicycloid groove, hypocycloid groove, steel ball and output mechanism are shown and emulated. The motion of the drive is also demonstrated. The paper mainly concludes the following works:At first, the meshing efficiency of the drive is studied and analyzed in theory according to the constituted construction and the drive principles. The kinematics and force analyses of the transmission are given as foundation. The different calculative formulas for meshing efficiency of drive in different condition are deduced. The deep analyses of pressure angle in cycloid steel ball planetary transmission are presented. By the large calculation, analyses the parameters of influence on meshing efficiency of drive. The influence regulations are given. That is the theoretical basis to optimize the drive.For the first time, the theory of fuzzy reliability is applied to study the strength design of cycloid ball reducer. The randomness of working stress and the fuzziness of allowable stress are discussed. The corresponding formulae of calculating the fuzzy probability are deduced.By means of the optimization method-punishing function method, the fuzzy reliability optimization design of the drive is given. The corresponding optimization mathematical model and method are presented. The results of optimization are reliable.The paper focuses on the theories and virtue prototypes technique of cycloid steel ball planetary transmission. On the base of deducing meshing theory, by simplifying the parameters and using computer software, the virtue digital prototype of cycloid steel ball planetary transmission is realized.
