Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopy Telescope (LAMOST) is one of the National Major Scientific Projects built by the Chinese Academy of Science. It possesses the highest spectrum acquiring rate in the world, up to ten-thousands of spectra per night, and brings Chinese astronomy into a leading role in wide field spectroscopy, in the fields of large scale and large sample astronomy and astrophysics.LAMOST has an automatic software system for its observation and data processing to obtain the data high efficiently and gain more scientific results, and is therefore tremendously significant. We introduce the process of LAMOST observation and data processing as well as wavelength calibration in this paper, and propose a new method of wavelength calibration using improved genetic algorithm. Furthermore, we develop and improve the online data processing system, which is another important problem. The main works are described as follows:1. Based on the introduction of LAMOST data processing, we explain the basic problem of wavelength calibration, i.e. finding the optimization expression for wavelength of CCD pixel, and introduce the general method of wavelength calibration used by SDSS.2. We explain the principle, framework, operators and characters of standard genetic algorithm (GA). On this basis, we give an improved GA using suitable coding method, fitness function and operators aiming at wavelength calibration, and validate the global convergence. Experiments verify the effectiveness and performance of the improved GA.3. We develop the master subsystem of data processing system (DPS), improve the evaluation subsystem, apply database in the designment and consummate the DPS in both structure and function. As a result, DPS performs very well in observation.
