Mixed flow pumps play an important role in the national economy for its broad usage in many important industries, such as agriculture, electric power industry, military, etc. In many cases, mixed flow pumps are the key equipments in the whole cooperation. The smooth operations of the mixed flow pumps are vital to the production lines. Because of the complex structure, previous works on mixed flow pumps mainly focused on only one single part. With the development of computer technology in recent years, more and more researchers begin to pay attention to the matching of different parts in order to improve the whole stage performance of the mixed flow pump.This thesis focused on the integral structure of a main pump in XX project. A numerical analytic system was developed based on the commercial software Pro/Engineer and NUMECA. By numerical simulation, flow inside the mixed flow pump was analyzed and influence between the upstream and downstream parts was found. And outlet guides were modified according to the design methods of twisted vanes and different impeller forms. As a consequence, the efficiency of the whole machine was successfully increased by 5.506%. Based on the numerical simulation on the flow parts of the pump, it was found that the relative position of the leading edge of the outlet guide vane to the impeller outlet, skew angle of outlet guide vane and the twist of outlet guide vane have great influences on efficiency and performance of the pump.The research results presented in this thesis may provide some guidelines and basis for flow analysis and structure modifications of mixed flow pumps in future.
