With the rapid development of the automotive industry and the transport industry, vehicle population increase rapidly, then road accident more frequently. The traffic accident has brought the serious disaster for people's life and the property. Research on vehicle collision safety performance, improve its crashworthiness has become the important topic of various countries' automotive industry. In order to enhance vehicle's collision safety performance, there is an urgent need to develop the related design and the improvement technology.First simulation methods of vehicle passive safety are analyzed and the basic theory of the dynamic explicit finite element analysis is described in this paper. Introduce the basic theory of the dynamic explicit algorithm. Contact algorithms, hourglass control, time-step control and the initial penetration problem are described. Free modal of the body in white finite element model has been analyzed, and body in white of the sample vehicle has been test. Compared with testing and simulation results, the finite element model has been revised to guarantee the model the accuracy. Based on this has established full vehicle's finite element model. The full vehicle model carries out frontal crash simulation analysis. The energy curve in crash course is carried on and it's analyzed to verify the results of the analysis with higher accuracy. According to GB11551-2003, GB11557 evaluation criteria, the vehicle body velocity and acceleration were analyzed. At the same time the front panel and the steering wheel that are key components of occupant safety region were analyzed, and compared with the evaluation criteria to judge the vehicle's safety. Experimental design methods have been used to optimize motor vehicle safety. Finally the DOE analysis principles and DOE analysis steps were introduced. According to the simulation analysis, factors and levels of the DOE analysis were selected reasonably,and orthogonal table was determined. According to the experimental plan Carries on the simulation, and carries on the direct-viewing analysis, the variance analysis and the significance analysis to the result. From the analysis, the optimal scheme was obtained. The optimum scheme has been carried out simulated analysis. At last the optimal scheme result and initial scheme result has been compared.Compared with the test data and analyzed the global energy,the simulation analysis result has the very high accuracy. The optimized result indicated that the optimization plan compared the reference design plan to reduce the vehicle body acceleration obviously, strengthened vehicle's crashworthiness and enhanced vehicle's safety. The paper designed the optimization analysis flow for automobile front crash,proposed the DOE design method to reduce the vehicle crash acceleration,,and provided the effective instruction for the automobile front crash safe design and improvement.
