In recent years, with the rapid development of urban construction projects, pile foundation has become an important form of foundation engineering. Pile foundation has many advantages, such as good stability, relatively small and uniform subsidence, small sedimentation rate and fast convergence, and high bearing capacity. Static driven pile, one of the pile foundation, makes good performance at technical and economic aspects because of the fast construction speed, little vibration, low noise, good pile driving quality and high bearing capacity. It achieves more and more attention in China. It has been widely used and achieved good results, especially in coastal soft-soil area, which shows a good application prospect.However, the resulting soil compaction effects caused by the extruding static piles make a series of adverse effects, such as tilting, bending and horizontal displacement. It can also influence the surrounding environment seriously. In order to control soil compaction effects, a novel measure called 'the disturbed soil wall for stress release' is presented here. The principle is to put some pressing fresh water into the soil with strong mix. The original soil structure is damaged and a disturbed soil wall is formed by replacing a portion of soil to release stress, which can prevent or slow down the lateral soil compaction stress transfer when the pipe pile is constructed.To better understand the development of study on soil compaction effects by driving the pile, the mechanism of action, theoretical calculations and the design as well as construction measures are summarized. In this research, the model of disturbed soil wall for stress release is proposed, and its mechanism of action is investigated by field tests and finite element simulation. Its validity is verified by comparative analysis, which can be referred and used for similar projects.
