As composite materials widely used in various fields, developing a high-precision, high efficiency ultrasonic inspection system is the key issues for ultrasonic inspection in recent years. Based on the flooding automated ultrasonic inspection system project, the mathematical model of the ultrasonic inspection control system was established. It can be used to discuss the control system's dynamic response characteristics and stability. Expect that, the improvement of the system dynamic performance, the reduction of system transmission error and the system error compensation are carried out in-depth study. In chapter 1, the types of defects in composite materials were described and the status of research on the surface ultrasonic inspection system was introduced. Then the background and important significance of the dissertation were discussed. Finally detailed research contents and given chapters arrangement. In chapter 2, according to the basic principles of ultrasonic inspection, the probe's position and orientation request when curved surface inspected is proposed. Then the overall structure of the 5-DOF robot was presented and the key kinematic pairs - linear drive module and rotary drive module were detailed. In chapter 3, the mathematical model of the synchronous belt drive system and the ball screw drive system was calculated. Then the system stability, steady-state error and dynamic response characteristics was studied by the model. Finally, how did the structural parameters affect the dynamic performance and how did the PMAC improved the dynamic responsiveness was researched. In chapter 4, the transmission errors' effect on the ultrasonic inspection results was analyzed, and the factors leading to the transmission errors were discussed. At last, introducing the compensation method to reduce errors and verifying the validity of the compensation .In chapter 5, the dissertation was summarized, and the possible research in future is presented.
