As an indispensable communication way of power system, power line carrier communication plays an important role in the smart power grid construction. The disadvantages of difficult in maintenance and low in speed make the traditional analog carrier unable to meet the demands.Focusing on those problems, this paper designed and implemented a digitalized power line carrier communication system based on DSP and FPGA. In this paper, a communication system base on digital SSB is proposed in the beginning, which not only overcomes the disadvantages of analog equipments, but also improves the precision and is well compatible with equipments available. Following, to further improve the communication speed, this paper designed a digital system based on V.34 standard, in which voice compression and digital multiplexer are used, so that it is able to transmit six-path voices or remote data simultaneously. However, the analog carrier can only transmit one path voice and one path remote data. Then, this paper designed a general hardware platform to realize the two power line carrier communication systems above. The platform is composed of TMS320C6416T DSP, Cyclone EP1C12 FPGA, high precision voice codecs, high speed ADC and DAC, amplifiers, and filters, etc, among which the DSP is its CPU and the FPGA is its controller. Finally, the result of system test shows that the specifications meet the standard requirements.
