With the popularization of portable electronic devices, the market of the batteries which are used as the power supply of electronic devices is booming. Lithium-ion battery is more widely used due to many advantages. Since the Lithium-ion battery is easily to get destroyed, it must be worked with a protector in practical use. The application environment of the protector required that it can be worked with low voltage and low power. So it is of great application and a broad market prospect to design a low power,high accuracy Lithium-ion battery protection chip.The paper is based on the project of Institute of Electronic CAD of Xidian University. A mircopower,high accuracy Lithium-ion battery protection chip named XDC13, is described in detail, including the system project organization, circuit realization for system function and simulation for system function. This paper begins with the introduction how to use the lithium-ion battery protector and what are its functions, then its system structure is also analyzed and designed. Based on the discussion above, the whole circuit of XDC13 is designed.The block consumes a low current with 3uA, even 366.3 pA in dormant period, by adopting power management and the circuit based on sub-threshold MOSFET, so it can satisfy the demands of battery protect function as well as meet the goal in power. The simulation and verification have completed under Cadence environment and the results of simulation indicate that the capability of chip is excellent, can realize variety target functions and get to anticipatable specification.
