Valves in a petrochemical device run for long time at high temperature and high pressure, Detecting and analyzing their states of running is the necessary procedures to ensure the safety and smooth operation of. petrochemical devices. Through risk analysis of the valve, promoting the application in the petrochemical business of Risk-based inspection (RBI) technology will have realistic meaning. For static equipment and piping, the traditional detection method is detecting and maintaining them regularly during an overhaul of the device, the traditional testing process has lots of problems in the use and distribution of resources for detecting, and assuring testing quality to improve equipment reliabilities. To solve these problems, RBI is introduced in this paper to carry out the risk evaluation of the four valves (globe valve, butterfly valve, check valve, ball valve), to determine their level of risk and to sort them according to the level of risk. On this basis the author explores maintenance methods of valves of liquefaction natural gas receiving terminal, clear and definite each cycle of the equipment, testing methods and testing content so on, and then implements testing under the testing program, analyzes testing results, and verifies and modifies the previous risk assessment for continuous improvement and perfection. The main work and results are summarized as follows:(1) According to the basic theory of RBI technology, main discusses risk analysis technique of equipment. Combining the working situation of valves in the LNG terminal, the author puts forward the main failure modes of valves.(2) In this paper, failure model effectiveness analysis (FMEA) on four valves is analyzed, and then their level of risk is determined.(3) The author sorts the valves based on the risk level of the four valves, and the corresponding maintenance program is proposed.
