In recent years, as the most promising and ideal clean energy, wind and solar energy attracted most countries'attention and widely used in many fields. They all have the advantages such as renewable, pollution-free, and widely distributed but also have the weakness such as low energy density and strong randomness. Especially for small-capacity power generation system, both of them are difficult to supply a stable and continuous power source separately, and people found the two have perfect complementarily, if we complement each other in accordance with a reasonable allocation capacity and install appropriate amount of batteries for energy storage and load balancing, we can balance the weakness and get more stable power output. This structure is known as wind and solar hybrid power generation system, with the continued increase of fuel costs and port environmental security checks, shipping industry have more interested in the using of clean energy.First of all, the development of clean energy is introduced and the technical characteristics and application advantages of wind-solar hybrid system is analyzed in this paper. Then, the idea of application which hybrid system using on ship is put forward and practical example was elaborated, a simple feasibility analysis of the hybrid system using on ship is done through the ocean weather conditions, cost advantage, environmental characteristics and reliability, as well as the optimal configuration problem occurring during the practical application was put forward. The specific object of research and application is proposed, which the optimistic allocation of wind-solar-diesel-battery hybrid power generation system using on small vessels. Secondly, the static and dynamic mathematical model of wind and solar resource as well as components is built, by which the real-time wind speed, solar radiation energy and the capacity proportion of various components could be calculated, while the future reference of optimization and simulation was provided. Thirdly, aiming at the problems of conventional hybrid power system, which the estimation method caused the excessive or shortage of installing capacity, a strategy of improved GA is adopted, which take the electricity cost and reliability as targets. The result shows that the algorithm has higher efficiency and better implementation. In the end, through the simulation of HOMER, the hybrid power system optimization software, the optimize value of the algorithm is vivificated, while the detailed simulation is used in order to comprehensive evaluation of the cost and reliability of the project.Some exploring research on clean energy such as wind and solar applied to the ship has been developed in this paper, some significant conclusions have been drawn through the theoretical studies and simulation of improved algorithm. The topic provides a reference for further research for the study.
