IACS Council had decided that the Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers (CSR) be implemented on a global scale on April first,2006.Currently,the structural design for bulk carriers with over 150m length are obliged to do the direct strength analysis according to the rules.So the research on the relevant content of the rules is of great significance.The thesis studys the requirements of CSR for direct strength analysis and explain them.After that,the thesis is engaged in the direct strength analysis and design in accordance with CSR,taking a 20000t bulk carrier as an example.The main works include the following parts:1) Collecting data to have a full understanding of the background and significance of CSR and the research status quo for ship strength from home and abroad;2) Learning the thoughts and principles of finite element method and have a good mastery of finite element software ABAQUS;3) Studying the relevant content about direct strength of CSR and explain them;4) Conducting the direct strength analysis and design for a actual ship which is fully and uniform loaded with F2 load case.The analysis finds that:the ship conforms to the requirement of CSR with the load case;the stress in deck corner is oblivious bigger with stress concentration phenomenon; buckling factor of inner bottom board is proved to be most-rest while the hold wall has the minimum-rest;reduceing element size provides a more accurate simulation of construction,avoids the error in the analysis due to the change of element shape,reflects more accurately the stress and deformation grads.In the thesis,the attention will be paid to the right understanding of thoughts and principles of finite element method,a good mastery of finite element software ABAQUS and a profound awareness of relevant content of direct strength analysis in CSR;In addition,the thesis is also emphasis on setting up rational direct strength analysis model through ABAQUS and the validity computation of the load on the basis of the data of the actual ship;At last,a right assessment on analysis's results is given.Only if all works are ensured correctly, can the analysis conclusion be correct.
