Concrete filled FRP-steel tube is a composite structure composed by the concrete-filled steel tube and external fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheet. Comparing to traditional concrete filled steel tube structure, the concrete filled FRP-steel tube indicates a promising structure, with more advantages in the mechanical and constructional performance, including increasing steel tube corrosion resistance, improving the FRP tube plastic issues, and reducing the material cost. Especially with its higher loading-carrying capacity and better toughness, it is more adaptable to the structures subjected to accidental impact load.Impact is a kind of common phenomena that widely exist in the project fields from the view of the world.With particular dynamic performance, the impact course is a sophisticated dynamic response process, therefore the study on the dynamic response of concrete filled FRP-Steel tube under impact load becomes very important in both theoretical research and engineering application.First, this paper gives a dissertation including the backgrounds of concrete filled FRP-steel tube and some research actualities about the subject of this paper. Then, the elementary theory of impact dynamics is summarized and the general analysis method of shock issue is proposed. They are the foundation of the paper. And the theory knowledge of ABAQUS/Explicit dynamic analytical method is presented, providing the foundation of numerical simulation. With the finite element software ABAQUS/Explicit, a finite element model of CFRP and GFRP concrete filled steel tube are established to analyze its lateral impact dynamic characteristics with different work situations, with respective kind, layer of FRP and the thickness of steel tubes. In order to proved the truth of the research method of this paper and the way of the numerical simulation.
