The application of natural ventilation is a important way to achieve building conservation and improve the quality of life at the present stage. Meanwhile, it needs to be solved urgency. At first, in this paper, for the meteorological characteristics of different regions of china, A method of natural ventilation potential analysis of different regions in china was presented in this paper. Based on this method, the result of the effectiveness of natural ventilation in typical regions was calculated and the influence factors on the natural ventilation potential were analyses. The conclusion is:the annual effectiveness of natural ventilation of different are is about 30%. The number of hours of natural ventilation effective of all regions in decreasing order is:Chengdu, Guangzhou, Beijing, Nanjing, Xian, Harbin, and Urumqi. With the rising of indoor heat, the regional natural ventilation effective hours declined and each district is different, Guangzhou is most obvious, Harbin declines least. Then, energy consumption of residential and office buildings are calculated using DEST software. Finally the energy-saving potential of natural ventilation in different regions of china is obtained. The result is that energy-saving potential of residential building which is generally 30% to 80%, the potential of office buildings is 5% to 30%.At last in this paper, a common realization of the current method of natural ventilation is introduced. Natural ventilation of a planned residential area is simulated using fluid simulation software PHOENICS. By way of analyzing and comparing several different ventilation programs, a reasonable layout forms is determined ultimately and the direction, layout and other factors on the impact of natural ventilation is analyzed.
