Pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) technique is one of popular methods to measure the space charge distribution in dielectrics, and it is an important issue to recover the ture space charge distribution based on the acoustic signal distortion. In this thesis, the propagation characteristics of acoustic signal in dielectrics have been analyzed, the recovery method based on the attenuation coefficient of acoustic signal has been studied, and then a set of space charge recovery software has been developed using Matlab which taking account the attenuation coefficient of acoustic signal. In addition, the propagation characteristics of acoustic signal in ZnO varistors have been investigated by experiments.
