Information is transmitted over network in digital substation, in the communication network, the traditional ways of synchronization and the directly GPS timing is not appropriate. Network timing has economic, simple, efficient and standardized characteristics, and a clear requirements and model of network time synchronization is specified in IEC61850. The main contents of this project is to develop a set of high-precision intelligence synchronization system according to the IEC61850 standard, and proposed an accurate synchronization project within substation uses IEEE 1588 protocol with Industrial Ethernet. In conformity to the new protocol we developed a new intelligence synchronization device which perfectly suited to the requirement of digital substation. The scheme realizes hardware/software partition, which is observably effective to achieve system wide synchronization accuracy in the submicrosecond range.
