Harmonics is one of the important indicators of power quality. With the rapid economic development and the development of power system towards the direction of extra high voltag e, large electric network, high capacity and automation, electric arc furnace, fluorescent light, thyristor device and other non-linear loads have also been widely used. During the work of th ese non-linear loads, they will feedback high harmonics to the power grid, causing the wavef orm distortion of voltage and current in power system and destroying the power quality, so th at the safety, stability and economic operation of power system will be posed with a potential threat. In this paper, the harmonic conditions in the general step-down station of Inner Mongo lia Erdos Power Plant are selected as study object, and the harmonics source within the syste m are analyzed. In line with harmonic measurement, control measures are proposed, which pl ay a certain positive role in the safety and stability of the general step-down station of Inner Mongolia Erdos Power Plant.
