Ensuring the quality of the main steam temperature control system is an essential part for the unit plant's safe and economical operation in the power plant. At present, the PID cascade control system is still widely used in the main steam temperature control system, and it is difficult to obtain satisfactory control performance by conventional PID tuning methods for the large inertia, delay and time-varying. In this paper, the IMC-PID controller design method have been studied based on the better model identification and noise reduction capabilities of the RLS (recursive least-squares) adaptive filter combined with internal model control principle. Through the model identification of the main steam temperature object and the design of the cascade PID controller, and then compared with the conventional PID control performance. Simulation results show that, the thermal object model obtained by RLS filter has high accuracy, the design value of IMC-PID controller based on this model can well solve the contradiction of fast response and accuracy and have good anti-disturbance ability, it's good for the control of large delay and large inertia control system.
