The polystyrene lightweight concrete preparation and the performance testing are discussed in this paper, the study shows mainly in the following areas:Firstly, according to the characteristics of the composing materials and the interactions of the materials, the materials needed in the test are confirmed. These raw materials complement each other. Perfecting the structure of the specimens and optimizing the performances of the samples, it plays a decisive role.Secondly, basic ratio tests of composing components are confirmed through a large quantity of testing. The shortcoming of nonideal performance of some components for the reason of adding a kind of component too much or too little is well overcame. According the self specialty of polystyrene lightweight concrete, we choose the stirring process about classification firstly and concentration secondly. it succeed avoid the float of EPS in the molding process and the loose phenomenon of the internal structure.Thirdly, several aspects of the polystyrene lightweight concrete are tested, such as compressive strength, flexural strength, thermal conductivity coefficient, water absorption and softening coefficient, the results obtained show that the specimen compressive strength can reach 18Mpa, the density is controlled around 1800Kg/m3, water absorption and softening coefficient can also measure up to the lightweight concrete standards and finally achieve the intended purpose of the test.Fourthly, in the course of the experiment, I discard the former method of using white latex in the preparation of lightweight concrete, create a groundbreaking method of adopting the VAE emulsion, the emulsion has effectively improved the EPS surface properties and the tightness with cement. The overall specimen structure is much more denser.
