After nationwide planning and construction, Passenger Traffic Corridor (PTC) has become an indispensable part of transport network, and takes a large volume of passengers. PTC is including several transport modes, i.e. railway, highway, waterway, air-flight. In the new market environment, cooperation and competitions exist among these transport modes at the same time, so how to integrate these modes is the key to improve the whole capacity of PTC. The conventional train-planning method is basing on passenger flow forecast, but ignoring the transferrable volume between different transport modes. The purpose of train-planning is just to get the maximization of their-owns benefit, not of the whole PTC. This study analyses the main influencing factors quantitatively, discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each modes respectively, and confirm the market position according to the properties of transport modes. After the analyze of passenger travel behavior, this paper calculate the total utility functions and market shares of transport modes, then set down the train plan basing on the passenger volume. The main methods and productions include:(1)Using elastic coefficient method, this study divides the traffic zones along the corridor basing on the population, land use, passenger travel character and economic development. After analyzing the coefficient of elasticity between traffic flow and population and GDP, this study forecasts the Guangshen corridor passenger flow distribution based on OD matrix estimation model.(2)The main factors influencing the mode choice are quantitatively analyzed from two aspects. One is the techno-characters and economical characters of different modes, and the other is the behavior characters of passengers. Then this study establishes the general utility function, utilizes Brook Taylor method to solve the function, and compare the service characters of different transport modes.(3) With the general utility function, this study establishes the optimal travel structure model and calibrates the parameters on the base of passenger behavior. And take the Guangshen corridor as an example, quantitatively analyze the service character, and calculate the market share of each transport modes.(4) The compiling rules of the train operation plan in corridor are proposed, and Non-Linear Programming Model is used to optimize the train operating plan, then the approaching method are conducted to solve the problems. Combining Guangshen corridor situation, this study calculates the train pairs of each railway transport modes, discusses the train model and running region according to the line data, and compiles the train operating daily plan.
