Energy is definitely essential to people's survival and quality of lives. China's energy production ranks third in the world. Therefore, low volume per capita due to huge population as well as the low energy utilization ratio makes it imperative to save energy. In our country, the railway transportation bears the important mission of transportation of crucial resources which have strong affect on the national economy and the people's livelihood. Although it features in low-energy comparing with other ways of transportation, the total amount of energy consumption is quite huge owing to the extraordinary large volume. Hence, the railway energy saving is of great significance.The locomotive traction fuel consumption occupies 60 to 70 percent of the railway energy consumption. Thus, the reduction of the locomotive traction fuel consumption plays an important role in lowing down the railway energy consumption. The thesis theoretically bases on the method, proposing by Professor Cheng Jiaxing and Professor Cheng Jinsong, which is the combination of strategies of optimal type and heuristic algorithm optimization, and makes some improvement in Assumptions, models and algorithms according to the field condition. The previous research assumes that only certain discrete throttle settings are possible and the sequence of throttle settings is given beforehand. The thesis actualizes this ideal assumption and makes the sequence of throttle settings output of the algorithm. On the basis of the previous researches'model, this paper executes some initial calculation, such as profile ramp simplification, speed limits initialization, calculation each ramps'supreme balancing speed, decision of adjusting ramp, and so on, to narrow the scope of the decision variable, simplify the model and increase the searching speed of the heuristic algorithm.At last, this paper figures out the section traveling optimal scheme by using VC++6.0 and MATLAB software according to the data of the section between He Fei East and San Shi Li Pu in He Fei Hub, plots the velocity-distance curve and the throttle settings-distance curve and proves the feasibility of the algorithm, and compares the results with the previous results of other algorithm in the same section and proves the algorithm's feasibility and better results.
