Study On Urban Road With Local Characteristic By Linear Space Theory

As the course of globalization and urbanization are developing rapidly, the city scene is too similar, a lot of regional features are disappearing, creation of urban characteristic is becoming a important focus. The paper takes the urban roads landscape as the stude object, explains that the urban roads landscape is the major part of urban roads environment, and also is the important open space. The urban roads landscape is not only bearing some urban culture function, so is to consummate the framework and function of road space, but also taking the important role of constructing the city landscape characters,embodying culture atmosphere. So creating the urban roads landscape system, having the deep culture charactristic, is one of the important way, which meet the needs of the morden cultural life. The construction of urban roads landscape, takes the linear space theory as the guide, aims at showing the special urban characters. The study is composed by three parts:the first part discussed the conception and characters of the linear space theory, explained the major facters and methods of showing urban characteristic; the second parts proved that the roads are the leading urban linear spaces, urban roads landscape is the important way of creating urban characters; the third part investigated the elements of roads landscape by guidance of the linear space theory, listed the design methods of urban roads landscape, and analysized some cases. The paper emphasizes that the designer should continue the road's sense of place, strengthen the local characteristic, by the guidance of linear space theory, in order to suit the modern city's needs.
