This paper is about the study of groundwater from northern suburb of one city, the groundwater is monitored by water quality monitoring station, and there is the phenomenon of high iron and high manganese for a long time. combining features of the local water plant's production process, it is determined iron and manganese removal treatment process of potassium permanganate pre-oxidation plus the filtration and separation, the technical parameters of this process are able to provide the basis for engineering design and production operation and management.It is found that this water plant's groundwater is mainly high concentration of manganese during the experiment, potassium permanganate pre-oxidation generates manganese dioxide that shows the chroma in the water, research shows that there is a positive correlation between the content of manganese dioxide and chroma, so the result shows that the main monitoring items of filtration test include the head loss, turbidity of effluent, chroma of effluent, manganese ion concentration, and so on.In the paper, dynamic characteristics of chemical oxidation were studied; it determined process parameters of the dosage of oxidant and reaction time:the dosage of potassium permanganate used chemical dosage; chemical reaction time was not less than five minutes.The paper also studied the morphology and components of solid iron and manganese oxides, according to experiments determined process parameters of filtration and separation:1)Coagulation process:when pre-oxidation is over, it directly begins to filter and separate, without dosing coagulant.2)Filtration and separation of solid iron and manganese oxides:filtration rate 10m/h, filter media using homogeneous quartz sand the effective diameter of 0.95mm, thickness of filtration bed 1200mm, the type of filter for the V-filter, during the filter operation filtration rate pulsation within a certain range and filtration rate transient will not affect Effluent quality of the filter bed3)filter backwash parameters:[1]single air scouring:air washing strength 16L/s-m2,flush time 2 min;[2]simultaneous air-water backwashing:air washing strength 16L/s-m2,water washing strength 4.0 L/s-m2,flush time 4 min;[3]single water scouring: water washing strength 8.0 L/s·m2,flush time 6 min...
