In recent years, special vehicles and engineering vehicles gradually to the development direction of large-scale and heavy-duty, makes heavy-duty vehicles to become a hot topic, most of these vehicles have more than two steering shafts. The more the number of shafts, the more difficult for vehicle steering and getting through in complex curve road, so it has very real significance to research multi-shaft vehicles, especially the multi-wheel steering of the large multi-shaft vehicles. Steering performance of heavy-duty vehicle have directly effect on vehicle agility, manipulate stability and use economy, optimum steering process demands all wheel in the state of pure roll and no movement, or only little slippage, or else large slippage can aggravate wheel's wear and tear. Sound steering drive mechanism can decrease steering resistance, can realize the aim of steering portability. This article aim at the research on a new-type steering system of the heavy vehicle-Watt-â…¡Center-arm-linkage-type six bar steering system. The half part of the vehicle steer system is comprised by five center-arm-linkage-type six bar steering mechanisms, and the second half with symmetrical. The design process to be consistent with the requirements of the vehicle steering. Firstly, the mathematical model was established based on Ackerman principle, at the same time the precise steering angle was determined, and then used MATLAB to prepare the corresponding design calculations, after endless cycle approximation in order to work out of the dimension of the center-arm-linkage-type six bar mechanism. Finally, Using Virtual Prototype Technology to establish the model in ADAMS according to the obtained dimension, simulated and got the actual angle curves, and put the results into MATLAB to compare with the theoretical angle curves, obtained angle error curve. The design result is satisfy the design request of Watt-â…¡Center-arm-linkage-type steering six bar mechanism, so it verify rational of the design. Compare with the tradition rocker mechanism, simplified the longitudinal transmission organization form. To sum up, this paper provided a new idear for the design of heavy vehicle steering mechanism, and provided some reference value for the future research.
