As we all know, in recent years faced the increasingly serious water shortage, all levels of government pay high attention to the construction of water-saving society,the traditional irrigation project model based on canal irrigation and the conventional water-saving irrigation model based on low pressure pipe irrigation, sprinkling irrigation are going from strength to strength. Desilting basin is the facilities of water-saving irrigation technology in the low pressure water pipes irrigation systems and the sprinkling irrigation irrigation systems. particularly when used muddy water to irrigation, Desilting basin can be an important part of the water-saving irrigation technology. However, due to the serious canal irrigation sediment in many Northern Irrigation District, canal desilting basin overloaded operation, and therefore in water-saving irrigation mode, the long-range transport technology of sediment and distributed processing technology is the combination that is important way to deal with the sediment problem of the Yellow River Irrigation District. Small size automatic flushing desilting basin is a kind of flushing desilting basin, generally it can be built in the irrigation canal of the lateral canal .That is a feasible treatment measure on canal system sediment.An experimental study on automatic flushing desilting basin technology used in the Low-pressure pipeline systems is to deal with the problem of sediment in the Yellow River irrigation project, and is the technical support on the Yellow River irrigation area of agricultural development. In addition, the study of settling basin is to perfect the technology of desilting basin, but also provide a theoretical basis for the Muddy Water's long-distance transport and the construction of the corresponding supporting facilities.In this paper, based on settling basin technology, summarized the sediment problem of the Yellow River Irrigation District, combined the model test theory, we made a lot of experimental study on automatic flushing desilting basin technology in an attempt to give a theoretical basis for dealing with the sediment problem of the Yellow River Irrigation District. Thesis research work and results are as follows:(1) To collect information and have in-depth understanding the major sediment problems of China's Yellow River irrigation area; to combine the development of water-saving irrigation techniques and new requirements on sediment processing. (2) To analyse the theoretical basis and operating principle of the automatic flushing desilting basin technology used in the Low-pressure pipeline systems; to explore the main factors that how to improve the efficiency of the automatic flushing desilting basin and provide theoretical basis for experimental study.(3) Through the clear water model test, researched the hydraulic characteristics of the automatic flushing desilting basin. Summarized water flow pattern and velocity distribution in the automatic flushing desilting basin.(4) Through the muddy water model test, looked into the sediment motion in the automatic flushing desilting basin when different working conditions.
