With the greater emphases on the research of wind power generation technology, the types of wind power generation units and the control technology are getting more and more. However, the wind turbine is too large and the restriction of weather conditions, it is inconvenient to test the new units and technologies on the worksite. This requires the development of a wind turbine simulation system which is used to study of wind power generation technology. This paper, in view of this need, researches and develops a wind turbine simulator.In this paper, the main part of the wind turbine system: the wind speed, wind turbines and transmission parts modeling. According to the working principle of wind turbines and output power characteristics, Proposed a method of simulation of wind turbine based on asynchronous motor, designed two kinds of control mode: speed simulation and torque simulation. And motor speed control has been studied.On the basis of these studies, use VB Programming a software of wind turbine simulation, implement analog control algorithms for wind turbines. Use Siemens MicroMaster 440 and asynchronous motor drive system formed the hardware of the part of the wind turbines simulator, as the response of control software. Study communication between the inverter and the computer based on USS protocol, completed the RS-485 communication network connectivity and communication anti-jamming design.Finally, using the wind turbine simulator simulates a type of wind turbine, through the analog output characteristic curve of simulator and grid experiment, proved that this design and development of wind turbine simulation system are correct and practical.
