Sliding pressure operation of large turbine units has been termed effective operation mode of power grid peaking regulations. Thus, online optimization on practical power units is necessary for the economic implementations. In this study, an approach combining theoretical guideline with field experiments was proposed. Investigations on characteristics of regulating stage were well developed. Concerning the regulating stage temperature and valve overlapping degree, in parallel with the involved off-design condition, feasible solution of main pressure of regulating stage was studied, resulting in an improved calculating precision and experiment efficiency. Meanwhile, through considerations on feature of such experiment, the omitted influential factors was also within reach which gain access to strengthen theoretical basis of experiment modifications and more convenient. Eventually, experiment optimization on turbine units were behaved as paradigm to provide further specification on practicality of sliding pressure operation.
