The selection of a reasonable operation of turbine units is a significant method to improve efficiency when turbine units change loads. Theory is combined with practice in this paper in the research of the feasibility and method of optimization for turbine units in order to enhance economic performance extremely. According to characteristic curve of governing stage calculated theoretically, the range of main steam pressure can be gained, temperature changes in governing stage and degree of overlap in regulating valve are considered deliberately as well. Based on which, a new guiding curve and coordinated economic index including heat consumption, Steam consumption, high pressure cylinder efficiency, medium pressure cylinder efficiency, can be concluded under a test of optimization in sliding pressure operation in a power plant in various chosen working conditions(350MW、400MW、450MW、500MW、550MW).During the research and calculation, in general, the result reveals that the consumption of coal is reduced by 2g/(kW·h) attributing to the guidance of the new guiding curve, which leads to a remarkable economic benefit.
