The existed methods of analyzing signals are imperfect in the aspect of detailed analysis on high frequency and the analysis on non-stationary and singularity signals. In order to extract the fault symptom effectively and improve the accuracy of fault diagnosis, this paper adopt the harmonic wavelet with strict box-like spectrum and simple function expression to analyze signals, and construct harmonic wavelet time-frequency grid plot, contour plot and profile plot. The result of analysis on the simulation signal and acquisition failure data on-site proves that harmonic wavelet has great capacity of extracting signal characteristics and engineering application value.To improve resolution in high frequency of the harmonic wavelet transform, this paper adopts harmonic wavelet packet transform, and gives the process of its implementation. The result of analysis on fault simulating signal and acquisition failure data on-site proves that the algorithm of harmonic wavelet packet decomposition transform is correct and efficient. Using the method can improve the accuracy of fault diagnosis significantly.
