Living hot water energy consumption as an important component of building energy consumption, has taken some proportions in total energy consumption of our national economy, and with the improvement of people's living standard, the requirement of living hot water will become more and more. Traditional preparation method of hot water like the boiler which use coal, oil or gas as a fuel will consume a lot of fossil fuel and also pollute the environment seriously. Due to that, a new and high efficient preparation method for hot water is very important and seriously needed. Air-source heat pump (ASHP) assisted solar water heating system is developed on the basis of heat pump and solar heat techniques. It makes full use of the renewable and pollution-free solar energy, and then have the recourses to be best profitably occupied through the high heat pump technique, which makes it one of the most energy saving methods. However, the performance of this system is closely bound up with outdoor climate. There are great differences when it is used in different regions. Based on the climate features of Jianghuai area, this article was trying to figure out the application potential and popularization value of ASHP assisted solar water heating system.This paper described the basic principles, technical characteristics, operating characteristics of ASHP assisted solar water heating system and its design of the major components, by which theoretical analysis were given and tests were carried out to research. Focus on the users of this system in jianghuai area, operation performance was analysed by calculating the data month by month. In addition, we also had a long-time monitoring for some demonstration project in this region and got the heat energy collected, heating energy consumption in different seasons and also the system's performance on typical climate days, so that we can propose a corresponding improvement scheme in reference to the deficiencys in design and control of this system which were found during the test and research.Lastly, on the basis of the above theory and technology research, the paper carried on a contrast analysis of ASHP assisted solar water heating system with some other traditional ways from the three aspects which were energy saving benefit, economic benefit and conservation benefit. Of which economic benefit contrast used cost year-end value method, and conservation aspect was detailedly analyzed discharge amount of primary energy pollutants, greenhouse gas reduction and the system's economics after the Environmental Protection Tax was added. Besides, the solar energy probability, energy prices and some other impact factors on the performance and benefits were discussed in this paper.Above all results indicated that on the condition of the climate features in Jianghuai area, compared with other traditional heat source ways, ASHP assisted solar water heating system is the most economical manner with the lowest energy consumption, and also it can result into pollutants'reduction due to its energy saving, which produces positive effects on the present environmental status of this area, so it is suitable for popularization and application in this region.
