According to the analysis of the structure and chemical composition of the sandstone, this research brings up a new design principle that a new low cost and advanced performance desert green break with compressive strength of 12-14MPa was prepared by the use of sands as basis material, water glass and aluminum chloride as curing agent, then modified by bentonite, respectively. The effect of water glass amount, aluminum chloride concentration, curing time on physical and mechanical properties of sand stabilization material was discussed by combining the orthogonal method with control various methods to find the optimum technological parameters. Microstructure and physical properties have been measured and the investigations on the curing mechanism of desert green break have been comprehensively and systemically conducted. The rate and number of colloid formation increased following concentration of aluminum chloride increased, Glial morphology changed from needle-like to globular. All these strengthen the mechanical property of the desert green break.FTIR confirmed the existence of absorption peak of Si-O, Si-O-Si, Si-O-Si cyclic trimer, Si-O-Al in colloid formatted by water glass and aluminium chloride. The colloid was amorphous aluminium-silicates revealed by wide angle XRD. The results show that Al(OH)3 and H+ were formed by hydrolyzing AICI3, Si(OH)4 obtained by a reaction of H+ and water glass, then a dewatering polycondensation of Si(OH)4 carried out. The desert green break sand-fixing material were enhanced by amorphous poly-aluminosilicate containing Si-O-Si, dissociative Si-OH, Si-O-Al bonds which was synthesized by random polymerization of Si(OH)4 and Al(OH)3.The results of DSC-TG demonstrated that the binder stability improved by addition of aluminium chloride. The weather ability of the inorganic gelatification desert green break sand stabilization material has been studied comprehensively. The results show this material has excellent water erosion, aging-resistant, good freeze-thaw resistance and wind erosion.
