Vehicle fuel heater is an important assistant facility used for cold condition engine start, carriage heating and windshield hoarfrost removing. Vehicle heater is very popular in some developed countries, in Europe and the United States, the vehicle heater has become the standard Configuration of vehicle. In our country, the heater market, although not fully mature, but there are a growing number of public transport vehicles, medium and high grade passenger cars, and even cars are equipped with heaters products. Performance tests were carried out on the YJP-Q30 series spray-type vehicle heater grasped the basic rules of their work and did corresponding improvements to the heater.First, this paper conducted a combustion air experiments at different temperatures, and made comparative tests on heat sink of the heater of different scenarios. On the basis of experimental studies about the amount of combustion air, we regulate the temperature of the combustion air,and see the endothermic in the combustion chamber of different temperatures of combustion air to make sure the impact on the heater performance. As an important part of heat exchange system heat sink has a greater impact on the performance of the heater, In this paper, we carried out experiments on three kinds of heat sink,such as without heat sinks, non-porous heat sink, heat sink with hole,we found that heat sink with hole is the best for heater performance.Next,we did corresponding improvements to the heater. Including experiments about greater diameter Tube on the basis of the previous trial of tube. Designed different specifications of the exhaust gas heat exchanger. At present, the majority liquid heaters use spiral water chamber to exchange heat. It has mass heat loss because of the heat exchange area constraint. Under the endeavor of our team, we devise a more efficient heater exchanger which has heat exchange tubes, in light of the existing shortcomings of the current exchanger. This time we used a larger diameter tube, making a further improve to the heater performance. Besides, we designed the exhaust gas heat exchangers, which make full use of the heater exhaust to heat water in advance of the exchange,and Significantly increased heater power, efficiency and reduce emissions.In this paper, we test combustion chamber temperature field under different circumstances.In order to gain temperature field, we used a method to make a group of thermocouples moving along the burner axis at the end of the heater exchanger, we can test the temperature conveniently between the different sections.At the end, an experimental research is carried out on the oil injectors used for injector heater with different oil-supply, different forms of injection cone and different injection cone angle. Results show that it is more appropriate for current YJP-Q-type fuel heater to be equipped with an oil injection of 0.75 USgal/h oil-supply,0.85 USgal/h oil-supply is not too bad. However,1.00 USgal/h oil-supply is unsuitable due to lack of air supply and shortage of heat exchanger capacity. Different forms of injection cone and different injection cone angle have little influence on current heaters.
