With persistently overheating of the energy industry, especially the oil industry, the steel tube, which is a complex technique of processing metal products, is widely used in petroleum, petrochemical, architecture industries and so on. When steel is used, we have strict inspection requirements to the minimum defects that is in its rolling. The testing equipment should satisfy the high precision, high efficiency, high accuracy, etc.At the present time, in nondestructive testing technology, the common method has ultrasonic, ray, magnetic powder, penetration, eddy, etc. But each has its own feature, when we locate shape and size of the tiny cracks in the seamless steel tube. For example, the traditional ultrasonic testing technology is one point sensing. In the long distance pipeline detection, this method is in great trouble. Therefore, Electromagnetic wave guide, as a kind of new method applied in steel nondestructive testing, which has good direction, can cover the pipe completely, overcome the undetection than other methods effectively, judge the size and shape of the internal cracks, and test on (including the multilayer structure pipeline) for long-distance. However, because of many modes and disperse characteristics of guided wave, often make data analysis extremely complex, the selection and incentive single mode guided wave detection can simplify complex problem analysis. This thesis is aimed at this topic studying on electromagnetic wave guide technology and the methods of detecting metal pipe flaw deeply. Firstly, we summarize the current research progress of this topic, and concisely introduct the theoretical basis relateing to electromagnetic wave guide technology; secondly, we establish a set of experimental device, and primary study on incentiving and receiving of electromagnetic wave guide. According to the feature that the tubular waveguide spread of electromagnetic wave guide, we choose specific single frequency signal with incentiving guided wave. Through a lot of experiments, anastomose experimental results and theoretical prediction. Then, further research the characteristic of flaw echoes, through the analysis and processing the flaw echoes receiving in the pipe, achieving flaw recognition and localization.
