The continuous development of China’s high-speed rail industry makes the safe driving of high-speed trains become more and more important, and the health of the wheels is one of the most important guarantee for the safe operation of high-speed trains. Therefore, the development of a fast, accurate and low cost automatic detection equipment has become the focus of attention within the industry. In this paper, a 3D Flaw Location Detection System for Multiple Wheel of High-speed Trains is studied, it has the advantages of rapid and accurate detection of wheel defects, simple operation flow, visual image display, portable mechanical structure, and friendly working interface.Firstly, the general scheme of the system was designed according to the following concept, which using ultrasonic testing as the basic method, using a combination of multiply probes for detection. The system designed a small and exquisite collection equipment which could be fixed to the wheel and closed to the wheel tread. In the process of detection three devices installed in the three wheels were working in the same time, the communication of these devices and the host computer was all using the wireless way. The system could set the number of devices to work.In view of the characteristics of wheel defect detection, this paper presented a method to locate the defects in 3D display mode. The method was based on the original A sweep waveform data, and combined it with ultrasonic features to write defect depth algorithm, calculate the defect depth information, then analysed the distribution of defects on the wheel tread surface from the source of the defect signals in the probe assembly, and the information calculated by the encoder was used to calculate the distance of the probe relative to the wheel. Finally, it combined the above three kinds of information in a transparent 3D wheel had drew out to identify the specific distribution of defects.With the Labview platform as the tool, the system had the full consideration of the effect to achieve the intelligent detection in the preparation, and the interface could guide the operators step by step to complete the operation in the process of detection, and the use of one key setting could save complex operation. In addition, a friendly man-machine interface was designed according to the characteristic of Labview programming language. It also had the function of management and analysis for data.After the production and debugging on the aspect of software and hardware of the system was completed, the paper did the test comprehensivly. In view of the future development of the system, the paper studied the combination of the system and the cloud platform. Through the HDFS file system in a distributed system Hadoop would summarry train depot in different detected data quickly, and comprehensive evaluated the health state of wheel.
