Wind resource assessment, which is an important component of the wind power project, provides the basis for the wind farm micro-site and economic evaluation. Fluid dynamics and computational fluid dynamics have provided theoretical calculation methods for wind resource assessment, but the application methods need to be optimized continuously. WAsP (Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program)which is applied by many wind power projects, would give great errors in complex terrains. Much research has been taken on solving the problem. The complex terrain have been simplified to typical terrain model:the sine-hill and the backstep terrain, applying CFD methods in the simulation of wind flow using different turbulence model:standard k-εmodel, RNG k-εmodel and realizablek-εmodel. By the simulation, the wind speed distribution flowing the typical terrain have been obtained, also the low of kinetic energy and the range of the recirculation zone.and the simulation results have been compared with the wind tunnel experimental data. And then,Based on the NWP data and the wind tunnel(WTG) operating data of the wind farmer, the wind speed of the 9#,19#,20#,21#,22#,23# WTG are obtain using the interpolating method of weighted function. The results are compared with the wind tunnel operating data, and the error is about 20%.then the sources of the error have been analysised. At last, the project are introduced to an wind farm project in the north China.and using the data of the wind tower and the weather station, the wind assessment is done, using the software WAsP& meteodyn WT. and the results are compared.
