With the development of power System, the widespread use of non-linear load and shock load makes the power quality problems have become increasingly prominent. As a result, all regulating device used to improve power quality got a rapid development. This paper carried on the control technology and simulation analysis of MVA-level current quality compound regulating device. A control method including internal and external voltage loop and a current loop was designed to ensure capacitor voltage balance. Besides, combined the choice of compensation strategy with the compensation ability of the device, a compensation strategy using genetic algorithm to optimize the allocation of the compensation capacity of each objective is proposed in this paper. What's more, this paper use power system simulation model which based on PSCAD/EMTDC to carry out the impact of divice start-up for system stability and the device operating characteristics and control strategy when the system under different operating conditions after the device access to system, moreover the impact of device failure to the power system was discussed.
