The level of Geomagnetically Induced Current(GIC) in power grid is relevant to many factors:magnetic storm intensity, earth resistivity and the structure of power grid, and the earth resistivity is one of the most important factors. In order to improve the calculation accuracy of GIC, one modeling method of earth resistivity is proposed in this paper. The paper discussed the relationship between GIC and earth resistivity; proposed the earth resistivity modeling method based on the crust and upper mantle structure and Magnetotelluric sounding data. On this basis, built the earth resistivity model of region along Yang-Huai power transmission system and calculated the earth induced electromagnetic field and GIC, verified the feasibility of this earth resistivity modeling method. And finally, analyzed the factors that impact the GIC level of Yang-Huai power transmission system, proposed design proposals of building large-scale and long-distance power grid.
