Study On The Scale Of Artistic Exhibition Space In Contemporary Museums

Today, museum is a kind of public place that provides a large number of cultural and emotional contents, where people could get various social functions such as learning, recreation, and communication. As the museum possessing cultural information and collection functions, it is an embodiment of science and technology of production, social life, and the development of cultural beliefs. Compared with other types of buildings, museums have particularity, experimental and heterosexual design requirement, paying great attention to the experience of humanism and environmental. Currently parts of exhibition buildings are in huge size and distorted shapes, or copying foreign designs directly. They became a landmark but lost their meaning in nature. In this case, the scale inductance design is an effective solution to ensure that the audiences have comfortable experiences, which play roles both in functional and artistic type. The study of scale design in exhibition place is significant, because it is an important way to express the concept of humanity.The project studies on the artistic exhibition space in museums from the perspective of scale. On the condition that exhibition concept, methods and space is updating continuously, creating a sense of spatial scale need new demands and methods.First of all, Chapter 1& Chapter 2 is an overview, including the research of the background, object, meaning of this study, and the development and evolution of museums and exhibition space. This part analyzes the process and current situation of museum display hall and its variation, which bring about three different categories about the sense of scale. Secondly, Chapter 3& Chapter 4 starting with the factors that affect the sense of scale, do research in the dynamic relationship between space, visitors and exhibits. By summing up new features of the contemporary artistic exhibition halls, this paragraph concludes forms and functions of scale by examples. Lastly, Chapter 5 present conclusion and recommendations to design the scale of contemporary artistic display space in a general, humanist and flexible way. It discussed how to create reasonable multi-scales thronging the characteristics, composition, sequence, and nodes of the space, and talked about the concepts of contemporary art and architecture design of space.This paper would like to update the scale system of architectural design and explain the development tendency. To against with the pursuit of visual stimulation, it is the time for returning to the essence of architecture. It is hoped that this study could propose some design strategy which is useful, effective and easily processed.
