Engine auxiliary control strategy is one of the key technologies in hybrid eclectic vehicle. Supported by the major projects of "Research on plug-in'Midi'hybrid electric vehicle" and "Research on diesel engine for hybrid electric bus" under "High-Tech R&D Program of China", this paper mainly studies on engine torque estimation and idling start-stop control which are the key technologies in HEV engine auxiliary control. The research provides a theoretical basis for dynamic coordination control between the power sources during HEV mode switch, and helps to improve HEV engine iding performance.In this paper, BP neural network and mean value engine torque estimation methods were studied. On this basis, a mean value engine torque estimation model with BP neural network has been established. The simulation results of engine steady and dynamic torque estimations which are verification by experimental data; show that the mean value engine torque estimation model with BP neural network has a better torque estimation accuracy. Meanwhile, the experiment of engine torque output control is also carried out with engine torque estimation.Based on the research of engine idling start-stop control technology at home and abroad, this paper designs HEV engine idling start-stop control system. Finishes the hardware system which contains an embedded microcontroller system, sensors with actuators circuits and communication module circuits and designs idling start-stop software system with control strategy, and builds the control strategy simulation model in Matlab/Stateflow, simulation results show that the control algorithm can realize HEV engine automatic idling start and stop functions. Meanwhile, this paper verifies the function of engine idling start-stop control system and the performance of controller IO response using the engine testing bench.
