Traction motor is a key component of traction drive system of railway locomotives. The study of experimental technology of traction motor has real significance, which ensures traction drive system to be safe and reliable in operation. In this thesis, the test system of AC traction motor is studied, taking the most widely used induction motor as an example.After analyzing the development of the load equipment for motor experiment, a reciprocal power-fed test system, whose load part is acted by a uniform induction motor which connects with tested motor through the shaft, is proposed. Then, this thesis investigated experimental request, function, theory, energy relation, working mechanism of the test system of induction motor of AC traction, including all kinds of working state of it, whose structure and layout of the main circuit are established. The paper introduced the coordinate transformation theory, derived in detail by rotor induction motor under field-oriented mathematical model, proposed an indirect vector control strategy of traction motor, and introduced the basic principles and SVPWM algorithm.On the basis of theoretical analysis, system simulation model is built with the use of Matlab/Simulink. Then, a variety of operating conditions of single induction motor control simulation is carried out and motor performance of reciprocal power-fed test system is emulated under the basic operating conditions. The simulation of train running resistance is completed, too. These simulations lay a good foundation for further practical application.At last, according to the established motor test rig controlled by three-phase voltage inverter, steady-state experiments and dynamic experiments are executed. Experiment results contrasted with simulation results. The consequence shows that the induction motor test rig has good static and dynamic performance. It also can complete comparison experimentation of different control strategies and validating experimentation of new control strategies.
