It is important to analyze and summarize the increasing rules and the characteristics of railway network passenger flow when urban rail transit is under rapid development. Such experience and information can help us to improve the attraction of subway system and excavate the potential capacity of public transport. In this paper, the passenger flow of urban rail transit system is classified into three levels:total passenger flow of railway lines and network, passenger flow distribution of each section, ride and surrender of the station. The increasing rules of passenger flows after the open a new subway can be analyzed from these three levels. Starting from analyzing the changes in the traffic supply and traffic demand of a new urban rail line, combining the study of the increasing rules of passenger flows in domestic and foreign large cities, this paper summarizes the general law on the increasing rules of urban rail network passenger flow.Inducing the theory of equilibrium traffic assignment, this paper presents a model for the assignment of urban railway passenger flow. With IC card data of Beijing transit system, Beijing urban railway network model has been built in VISUM with the scenarios of before and after the open of line 5, line 10, line 4 in VISUM; Passenger flow at peak hour has been assigned in all the scenarios to study the characteristics of urban rail network passenger flow after the open of a new subway line. Six aspects have been used for a comprehensive comparison and analysis, which are:traffic volume of the section, ride and surrender of the station, desire line of new subway line, source of passenger at transfer station, passenger distribution of terminal stations and covering area of railway network. The result of this paper has remarkable reference value on the further study of passenger flow prediction study after opening a new urban rail line.
