The orthotropic steel bridge deck has many structural advantages such as light weight, beautiful appearance and fast construction speed, which has been used widely in bridge designing at domestic and foreign country. However, orthotropic steel panel also has many deficiencies such as complex structure, welding residual stress, the internal defects (stress concentration), circulating load effect and so on. As a result of these deficiencies, this kind of structure was limited to further application and popularization.Especially under the effect of vehicles moving load, the fatigue reliability of the orthotropic steel bridge deck needs to been further studied. In this thesis, U-rib fatigue experiment of the orthotropic steel bridge deck was studied and the stress feature of the U rib details on the orthotropic steel panel was also researched.1. The situation at home and abroad of steel bridge fatigue research and development, and the fatigue experiment results were introduced in detail. Combining with engineering background, the direction and purpose of this study were pointed out.2. The U-rib on the orthotropic steel bridge deck was simulated by finite element software FEA in order to calculate the stress of the most disadvantaged position. The orthotropic steel deck structure detail and the geometric parameter of U rib were studied so as to analyze the various influence factors of the fatigue performance. The fatigue experiment model was designed.3. The design principles of experimental program and the distribution of measured points were introduced. Then the experimental data was analyzed and arranged, and the comparison with the theoretical calculation results has been done. The fatigue performance of the orthotropic steel deck components was summarized. The fatigue test results showed no cracks found after 200w cycles of a test load range and verified the good fatigue behavior of the orthotropic steel bridge deck.
