Fatigue is one of key issues in the application and development of Orthotropic steel bridge decks (OSDs). Owing to the influence of many factors such as structural complexity, plentiful weld joints and local stress concentration, the fatigue performance of OSDs cannot be thoroughly addressed through optimizing the structure itself. Further optimization of structure system is kind of effective method to solve the problem of OSDs fatigue issues. This structure was presented by means of simplifying the structural system of the bridge deck and longitudinal rib into Orthotropic Steel-RPC system, which is composed of the orthotropic steed deck and the Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) above in order to improve the overall mechanical property and fatigue performance of damageable parts of OSDs. For the sake of studying the feasibility of this structure and its anti-fatigue characteristics, this thesis mainly focuses on the several aspects of the following work:(1) The emergence and development of OSDs has been reviewed, the structural features and mechanical behavior of this structure have been analysed, especially summarize the development and current situation of the study on fatigue of OSDs. On this basis, Put forward the concept of a new type of composite bridge deck;(2) Several major parameters which influence the mechanical and fatigue performance of this structure have been explored and optimized;(3) Based on the established FEA model, several damageable parts of this structure were determined and their fatigue performance has been assessed by the hot spot stress method;(4) The fatigue properties of damageable parts of the traditional OSDs and this orthotropic steel-RPC composite bridge deck have been compared in detail; the superiority of anti-fatigue performance of the latter has also been verified.
