In this paper, the finite element theory is applied to the design calculation of OCS(Overhead Contact System), and the elasticity of OCS and its uniformity coefficient are calculated in finite element simulation software to optimize design program of OCS, which is very important to design, construction and safe operation of catenary-pantograph system.The performance of OCS depends on a large number of design parameters, so different parameters cause different performance. The finite element model of simple catenary and elastic catenary under different design parameters are established, finally the elasticity and its uniformity coefficient of OCS are calculated accurately in one span.Firstly, the finite element theory and ANSYS simulation software are introduced simply, and then the relevant finite element models of OCS are established under different design parameters, on which initial iteration analysis is did in order to get equilibrium without uplift force of OCS. In another side, in order to get another equilibrium the model of OCS with uplift force is iteration solved. The difference between these two equilibriums is got, and the elasticity and its uniformity coefficient in one span are calculated with elasticity concept. The design program of OCS is optimized by changing design parameters, for example, tension, span distance, dropper arrangement, system height, and so on, which is of great guiding significance to designing of OCS. In the last, the article summarized all paper, illustrated questions actually existing, and come up with the improving direction of solving problems, and prospected the design concept of OCS.
